ACT 1039 Dyslexia Program
Dyslexia Programs
During the 2023-2024 school year, the Perryville School District used evidence-based Brainspring: Phonics First/Structures programs in small groups or individual settings to address the deficit areas of students identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia. The Perryville School District is supplementing these programs with: Heggerty, Kilpatrick’s Equipped for Reading Success, Flyleaf decodable, Rite Flight-fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension, FCRR resources.
All classroom teachers in grades K-2, Literacy teachers in grades 3-6, as well as all Special Education teachers, are trained in the program.
Number of Students Who Received Dyslexia Intervention
During the 2023-2024 school year, 117 students received dyslexia intervention services from a trained dyslexia interventionist.
During the 2023-2024 school year, 16 students were screened and identified as having characteristics of dyslexia and were placed in the intervention program.
Total Number of Students identified as Exhibiting the Characteristics of Dyslexia
During the 2023-2024 school year, *150 students attending Perryville School District were Identified as exhibiting the characteristics of dyslexia.
*This total includes students who either have been dismissed from dyslexia intervention services or the parent/guardian has declined services.
